After months of speculation, Paramount Pictures has confirmed production of Mission: Impossible 5, which it’s announced will be in cinemas on December 25th 2015 in the US (and probably slightly later in the UK).
The new instalment in the series has been penned by Drew Pierce (Iron Man 3), and will be directed by Christopher McQuarrie (who previously helmed Jack Reacher, also starring Tom Cruise). Tom Cruise will be reprising the role of Ethan Hunt, but the other regular cast haven’t announced if they will be returning.
Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, the last film in the series, was both the most popular this year, and also the biggest grossing film of Tom Cruise’s career. It is interesting timing though as it will be hitting the big screen one week after Star Wars VII, the Warcraft film, and the adaptation of Dan Brown’s Inferno.
